The Division of Geology and Land Survey has an immediate need for a Registered Land Surveyor to serve as administrative and technical expert over the Land Survey Program.
The State Land Surveyor is responsible for:
· Administrative direction and supervision of the Land Survey Program
· Recognizing and recommending where statutory or rule changes should be considered by the Department
· Reviews of surveys as appropriate and responding to violations of the minimum standards required for surveys in Missouri
· Implementation of the Missouri Coordinate System
· Coordination of the Land Survey Advisory Council
· Serving as a technical expert in reviewing quality of work performed by county and private land surveyor’s under contract
· Preservation of the State’s land survey records
· Developing geodetic networks with first order horizontal and first and second order vertical control
· Setting survey practice standards that are to be followed
· Serving as a member of the Missouri Boundary Commission and supporting the technical survey needs for the Commission
· Coordinating with the Division on the budget process, legislation, fiscal tracking and personnel issues
· Cooperation and support to other divisions as well as department programs on technical guidance
· Written and oral communication with the public, engineering and surveying firms, various associations and government at all levels
· Making presentations to large and small groups
· Liaison with various federal agencies including the National Geodetic Survey
· Conducting technical workshops for professional groups
The salary range will be $58,248 to $68,520 depending on education and experience.
