Garrett Engineering is seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor to help lead and strengthen our growing survey department. This position combines technical surveying expertise, project oversight, quality control, and leadership of field and office personnel.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable communicating with clients, and capable of managing survey projects from initial research through final deliverables.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, subdivision, construction-staking, and other land-surveying projects.
- Review deeds, plats, easements, title information, survey records, and other supporting documents.
- Perform or oversee survey calculations, boundary resolution, legal descriptions, plats, and final survey deliverables.
- Sign and seal surveying documents as permitted by law.
- Provide technical direction to survey field crews and CAD personnel.
- Review field data, calculations, drawings, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Establish project scope, staffing needs, schedules, and deliverable requirements.
- Support the preparation of project estimates and proposals.
- Communicate with property owners, contractors, developers, municipalities, title companies, attorneys, and other project stakeholders.
- Ensure surveying work complies with applicable Missouri statutes, regulations, standards, and client requirements.
- Maintain clear project records and assist with the continued development of consistent survey-department procedures.
- Coordinate with Garrett Engineering’s civil engineering team when projects involve both engineering and surveying services.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Missouri Professional Land Surveyor license in good standing
- Demonstrated experience with boundary analysis, survey calculations, plats, and legal descriptions.
- Working knowledge of applicable surveying standards and Missouri requirements.
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and client-service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work effectively with field crews, CAD personnel, engineers, clients, and public officials.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supervising survey field and office personnel.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble equipment and software, or comparable surveying technology.
- Experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, subdivisions, easements, construction staking, and municipal projects.
- Experience preparing project scopes, schedules, and fee estimates.
- Additional professional land-surveyor licensure in neighboring states is a plus.

This is a full-time position based at Garrett Engineering’s office in Buffalo, Missouri.
